Carpentry teacher, Mr. Barrington, teaches students how to smooth out a wooden board.

“This is a jointer. You have to run the wood through a few times to get the edges even and smooth.”

Outside of the classroom, Barrington’s Carpentry class is currently building a shed as one of their projects.

“Well, we want to sell it. If I don’t sell it before it’s done, I can politely ask Lowes or Jennings to put it on their property, since they provided us with the supplies we needed.”

Inside the classroom, we asked about the tools Mr. Barrington and his students were using. We asked Josh Riddle, Sophomore, about what he was using:

“This is a grinder. It helps us grind the edge of the nail so we will be able to put a edge on the other side to hold onto the frame.”

Mr. Barrington and his class begin brainstorming on future projects for the class.

“We plan on making a conference table for the fire department. It’s a good way to give back to our firefighters!”

The students in Mr. Barrington’s first period class are thrilled about their experience with this project! Stay tuned to see what else Mr. Barrington’s class is up to!
