Sports are a big part of who we are here in Franklin. A lot of people come to games and show student athletes support. Basketball is a big part of JV player (#33) Sydney Chapman’s life.

“I have played basketball all of my life, except developmental league.” When she’s not playing basketball she’s out hanging with friends or skateboarding. ‘’I plan on going to college but not for basketball. I plan on doing carpentry because I like building.’’ Although she plans to going to college and is very passionate about basketball, she doesn’t want to play basketball in college, but continue on her future career in carpentry.

One of Sydney’s favorite moments in high school basketball was “Winning conference champs last year or any game we’ve won.” The most points Sydney has scored in a game was 16, at Brevard’s game on 1/11/19 this season. Some advice she would give anyone about basketball is “be able to read the defense, defense is the main thing, who cares about scoring?” Of course there are the embarrassing moments too “last year a girl tripped me and I slid on my stomach down the court” and “anytime I fall, get packed, or air ball is embarrassing.” Aside from being “rough” in basketball Sydney can be very kind and loving to everyone.
