Tuesday’s game (October 8th) saw the Franklin High V and JV volleyball teams go up against Pisgah. The game was named the ‘Pink-Out game in honor of Jessica Kneipp who has just been diagnosed with breast cancer. All the money made from that game was given to her.
Jessica Keneipp is a 38 year old wife and mother of three that is a franklin native and local barber and business owner. She is very strong and active in her Christian faith. During a self-exam in July, Jessica found a lump in her breast. Upon having it biopsied she was informed it was indeed stage 3 Invasive ductal carcinoma, which is the most common form of breast cancer. Due to the large size of the tumor her doctors decided to do 6 rounds of chemotherapy before discussing surgical options. Jessica just had her second round of chemo last week and is doing very well so far. She can feel that the tumor is responding to treatment because as of now she can barely feel it at all. Praise God! It is estimated that 1 in 8 women are facing this obstacle right now and that number is expected to continue to rise greatly in the next five years. Early detection is KEY! Please check yourselves monthly and if there is any sign at all of something off do not wait to get it checked out. Jessica wants everyone to know she is overwhelmed and so grateful for all of the prayers, love and support. She said its times like these that you get to see what a truly great community that you are a part of.
