Mr. Pickens’ Public Safety class had the SBI and K-9 Unit in the classroom. The SBI brought their fingerprinting kit and showed the class how they find fingerprints. The K-9 unit brought two of their dogs, Chase and Hoss, and showed the students how the dogs are trained. The K-9’s find the human scent, drugs and other scents based on officer’s commands. They also attack when the officer commands them to attack. Overall, the class really enjoyed having these officers come in and show them this type of specialty training.
