Band Insider: Allie Norton

Emma Browning

What instrument do you play and why?

I play the clarinet because it was the only instrument I could make a sound on in 6th grade. Now, I play it because I love the range of notes and the tones it is able to produce.

What inspires you to be in band?

Teamwork and the environment inspire me to be in band. I love that everyone is included and plays an important part. The environment makes it a safe place because everyone in the band program is your second family and is willing to support you through everything.

Do you plan to stay in band the rest of your high school career?

I do plan to stay in band for the rest of my high school career.

Would you encourage other students to join band?

Yes, because band teaches leadership, responsibility, and the value of hard work.

If you could switch instrument, what would it be and why?

I would switch to saxophone because it is in the same family as the clarinet and I have always been interested in playing the saxophone.

What is your favorite memory that you have from band?

My favorite memory from band is when we say our ending chant at the end of the final practice. The passion in everyone’s voices warms my heart and makes me proud to be a part of our band program.
