Kevin Corbin graduated from Franklin High School in 1979, While in high school he was President of the Interact Club with over 100 members and president of student body his senior year. After Corbin had graduated from high school he later attended Appalachian State University in Boone NC. Kevin opened up his own business…Corbin Insurance Agency in 1983 in downtown Franklin NC. While at ASU, Kevin was elected to the Student Senate and enjoyed it. And so he decided to pursue politics after college. Corbin ran for school board at the age of 22 and won against a long term incumbent and was the youngest elected official in the state of NC at that time. Serving 20 years on the school board and was chairman of that board for 16 years.

Corbin decided to a break from politics for a year while him and his wife built their home. Dr. Jim Davis was on the board of commissioners and decided to run for the Senate. He asked Kevin if he won the election, would he be willing to fill his seat (it was half way through his four year term). Kevin said yes thinking Jim would not win against his well liked opponent. Low and behold, Jim won and Kevin kept his promise to fill the seat. Corbin enjoyed this level of politics and so ran for a term and won. Then Corbin was pressured into being a Representative. Roger West, who is from Murphy told him to run for his representative seat in Raleigh. Roger West had served 16 years and was ready to step down. Again, Kevin ran and won and served two 2 year terms in the House of Representatives.  A fun fact about Kevin Corbin he was in a band they are called Blue Ridge music, they began when they were seniors in high school as it started out as a youth group band, they recorded 27 albums and over 300 songs. Blue ridge traveled all over the place such as North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Texas, Florida and  Canada and many more places in between. Later on, after a long run Blue Ridge band decided to retire in October of 2019.
