What is HOSA?

HOSA actively promotes career opportunities in the health industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people.

HOSA is a global student-led organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Department of Health and Human Services (USDHHS) and several federal and state agencies. HOSA’s mission is to empower HOSA-Future Health Professionals to become leaders in the global health community, through education, collaboration, and experience. HOSA’s goal is to encourage all health science instructors and students to affiliate and be actively involved in the HSE-HOSA Partnership.

How many years have you been doing HOSA?

2 out of my 3 years here

What do you have to do in order to  qualify and make it to state? Most but not all events have a regional qualifier.  Though there are options if you do not qualify at regionals to choose from that start competing at State level or if you joined HOSA after regionals.

How many competitions have yall had?

4 total. Our first year was virtual, and this was our first face to face for both regional and state competitions.

How was the experience overall making state for the first time.  FUN! As far as we know, this is the first chapter to compete for FHS so it was exciting & prideful to feel like they really are making history for FHS.  We definitely made memories and great learning experiences that I don’t think the students anticipated.  They enjoyed it as much as possible and learned so thats always a win. 🙂

Do you have to be in a specific grade to join? NO! Thats the great thing about it.  All grades are welcomed, even if you are not currently in one of our Health Science classes.  All HOSA students are engaged with multiple different enrichment activities (sports, clubs etc).

How to sign up?  Come see me…Mrs Deitz.
