So far this year, our Men’s Track team has been very successful this year. Right now we have 4 people who are top in conference, Jarrett Evans for Long and Triple jump, Liam Graham for the 800, Nathan Stamey for the 3200, and Josh Blackburn in discus. Our men’s team has placed in top 4 all year, 4 of the 5 meets they placed first.
At the beginning of the year we had many people excited for this season, like Yanatan Martinez who said that he was excited for pole vault because “I decided to do the sport after my brother”. The there are others like Jarrett Evans who come back year after year for things like “winning another conference championship”.
The guys on the track team this year have a drive to get better and to win, but everybody’s reasons are different; such as Randy Giles whose drive this year is “to get faster”, and Christopher Hedden whose goal s “to be the best me that I can be and track is a great sport to achieve that.”
With these different drives come different goals, like Yonatan Martinez’s goal “to get to regionals” while Everage Payne is focused on “getting 4:59 or lower in the mile” even with the differences in their goals, the team works like a family. They are there for each other and try their best to help others meet their goals.
