Everyone knows that moving to a new school is hard, and so when Makayla Brewer moved here from McDowell county she was nervous and a scared, luckily her teammates were there to help her out.
Makayla’s experience getting to know her teammates may have taken a little bit of time, but after a while a few of her teammates helped her with everything. “Well first practice I was terrified, but Brooke and Shayla took me under their wings and introduced me to the others.” to have teammates like that is a blessing, especially when you are new.
A part of every sports program is the rivalry, every team that you see will have some type of rivalry. As a result, Makayla was asked about her stance on our rivalry with
Smokey “it’s kind of the same as our rivalry with Freedom, it is always neck and neck and you just work your butt off.”
Her teammates have given her so many ways to become incorporated with the school and it sounds like she is really grateful for that, on top of that she isn’t just an amazing basketball player, she is also selfless. When she was asked about her favorite experience in basketball at the school so far she said, “watching some of my teammates grow, like Brooke where at first she wouldn’t post me up and now she is working her butt off.”
Overall having teammates when moving to a new school is important because they help you get used to the school and Makayla has experienced that with her teammates.
